Roll On Down the Highway

FAU recently took delivery of a new equipment semi-trailer, and one of my images was strategically placed - facing the cab. Oh well, it still looks cool when sitting by itself...

After looking at the original, I see that Malik Eugene was spared the embarrassment of falling down in the un-Photoshopped version.

"U" Fail!

As I was editing one of my assistants images the other day it became apparent all is not well in the 'Canes Nation.

Did I see a problem with an offensive formation, or a defensive scheme? No.

My assistant Matt was assigned with shooting images of our fans. What do our fans typically do when presented with the opportunity to be on film? They throw up the "U" hand signal. Time after time, Matt's images turned up something else.

While the 'Canes won on the field vs Virginia Tech, our fans failed miserably.

We play tackle football, folks, not paper football, at least as suggested by many of you attempting our signature hand gesture. Take a good look at our logo... is it that hard to hold up all your fingers?

I'm trying to figure out why so many of you do "The Goalpost." We don't play FSU every week, so it can't be you are trying to give the 'Noles kicker a target.

As an alum I'm a stickler for tradition, even if that tradition is younger than Miley Cyrus. I'm dumbfounded why so many of you get it wrong.

(My assistant Jessica captured the image at the top during this season's game at Florida)

While shooting Hurricanes Rowing head shots today, Coach Tenenbaum tried to slip one by my itchy trigger finger...

You Can't Spell "Futbol" Without an "Eff"

University of Tampa goalkeepers Michael Torrance and Ryan Thompson celebrate as Lynn University's Jean Alexandre sits dejectedly after the Spartans 3-2 victory over the #1 ranked Fighting Knights during the Division II Men's Soccer tournament. The match featured much verbal jarring and f-bombs between the teams, and Thompson delivered a final parting shot below.

Bad Hair Day in Boca

After shooting the FAU Track team photo involving approximately 40 girls in a 20 mph wind, shooting this photo of FAU Softball's returning seniors was a breeze.

Two Years Later

Yesterday was the second anniversary of Bryan Pata's death, and recently I photographed Bryan's mom - Jeanette Pata - for Unrestricted Magazine.

Mrs. Pata had a "photo throw" with Bryan's image on it which we used for the shoot. After trying various angles we settled for the one shown above. While setting up a stock photo of Bryan's helmet, you can see how taxing the day was for Mrs. Pata (below).

Bryan's murder remains unsolved.

A Day in the Life of a Team Photographer

'Canes Women's Golf for the marketing department? Sure. FAU Men's Golf photo day? No problem. Coach Jarvis' debut for FAU? Scheduled months ago. Team photo a few hours before the game? Let's do it. All four of these assignments took place in one day, yesterday.

10:30am - Brooke Stuart, Maria Ronderos and Begona Sarabia walk down the fairway at Riveria Country Club in Coral Gables.

2:00pm - Senior Will Cottle poses with coach Angelo Sands during FAU Men's Golf photo day at Ocean Breeze Golf Club in Boca Raton.

3:30pm - Install my strobe lights at FAU Arena in Boca Raton.

5:30pm - Men's Basketball Team Photo.

7:00pm - Men's Basketball exhibition game against Lynn University. It didn't take Coach Jarvis long to get a reaction from a referee.

9:30pm - Tear down my strobe lights and go edit!

Election Day

Election day is today and with it comes memories of the 'Canes trip to Washington, D.C. for Champions Day at the White House back in 2002. One of the more memorable moments was Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) attempting to catch a pass from Senator Bill Nelson (R-FL). The end result, as seen above, was hilarious!

Shot of the Day

After a nearly season long delay, I was finally able to use strobes to shoot Hurricanes Volleyball last night. Above: UM's Ariell Cooke goes for the kill over the outstretched arms of Duke's Sophia Dunworth during the 'Canes 3-0 win over the Blue Devils.
