Above is a shot of the fountain at the University of Miami at dawn during this past fall's homecoming week. I merged four different exposures using Photomatix software and tone mapped the results.
I just purchased a license for Photomatix and have been searching the archives for sequences of images to process using the software. It usually provides a different result than Photoshop, and it is easier to use.

My day started around 10:30am with a phone call from the Florida Panthers wondering if I could fill in for someone to shoot a portrait of Gregory Campbell in my classic "grunge" style. After locating a dirty white brick wall in the back of a rink at Incredible Ice in Coral Springs, we posed Campbell for the above frame...
Then it was up to Boca Raton for the FAU football team photo scheduled at 2pm. While the assistant coaches and a handful of players were missing (many of those who showed were wearing flip flops), we went ahead and shot it anyways at around 2:45...
Then it was down to Coral Gables for the Indiana @ Miami Women's basketball portion of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. I shot some overheads around the bench area and came up with the image above.

Since the Fiesta Bowl fiasco back in 2003, whenever the 'Canes meet up with Ohio State, its sure to trigger a response from the fans. With the Buckeyes' hoopsters in town last night, a couple of fans came prepared.

Saturday's "Shula Bowl" matchup between FAU and FIU was a memorable one for the lucky few who showed up and the fewer still who didn't leave early. Twice trailing by two touchdowns in the 4th quarter, the Owls rallied to tie the score at 50-50 in regulation including a couple of improbable plays - a tipped pass for a touchdown and by recovering an onside kick - to send the game into overtime.
The Owls scored on their first possession in overtime and then forced the Golden Panthers to go four and out to win, 57-50.
I remember when I first stood on a practice field with the inaugural FAU team back in 2001. After years of looking up - literally - at 300+ pound linemen who could outrun me, I was looking down at players shorter and smaller than myself. It was the same over at FIU in 2002. The quality of both rosters continues to improve every year.
For those of you who think Sun Belt football is beneath you, these two football programs are a great bargain to watch in person, and plenty of seats are available.
